Electricity costs hamper capital investment: UK Steel
UK Steel says high electricity prices burden UK steelmakers with £54 million ($74m) of additional costs compared to their German counterparts, thereby deterring investment to modernise the sector and slowing decarbonisation.
In a new report published on Thursday, UK Steel says that over the last five years the price disparity has cost the UK Steel sector £254m, or the equivalent of 15 months capital investment.
