Dongkuk may forgo CSP deliveries for US market
South Korea’s Dongkuk Steel joined the Brazilian slabmaking venture Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém (CSP) in order to secure a reliable source of semis for its rerolling operations in Korea. Sky-high US flat steel prices have, however, opened up a profitable market for that slab, just as Dongkuk’s re-rolled products face US import quotas, Kallanish notes.
