Dillinger trials thick slab caster
German platemaker Dillinger Hüttenwerke’s new continuous casting machine, which will allow production of the world’s thickest slabs (500mm), was put into trial operation on 5 July, the company tells Kallanish.
At a cost of more than €400 million ($443m), the double-strand vertical casting machine CC6 marks Dillinger’s biggest single investment. It will enable the mill “… to diversify into new dimensions and quality grades…
