CSC uses HBI to reduce carbon emissions
China Steel Corporation (CSC) has added hot briquetted iron (HBI) into its No. 2 blast furnace (BF) to reduce carbon emissions, Kallanish notes.
CSC trialled 6,000 tonnes of HBI in its BF, and found that for every tonne of HBI used, 1.53t of carbon dioxide emissions from the blast furnace could be reduced, as reduction agents can be saved.
