Court supports Whitehaven Coal’s Vickery expansion
The Federal Court of Australia has overturned the block placed on Whitehaven Coal's Vickery extension project. This means the company's metallurgical coal project can continue, Kallanish notes.
Whitehaven Coal has welcomed the judgment and says it is looking forward to receiving Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) approval for the Vickery extension. In August 2020, the NSW Independent Planning Commission approved the project.
