Court dismisses BHP's bid to disqualify Samarco's claimants
The UK's High Court has rejected arguments by BHP to exclude 33,000 from pursuing compensation for damages in the class action lawsuit in England over the Samarco dam burst, Kallanish notes.
BHP, which co-owns Samarco with Vale, has received approximately £36 billion ($45.5 billion) in claims from some 640,000 victims, up from 200,000 when the case was first filed.
