Mexico's steel consumption increase boosts imports in 2014
Apparent steel consumption in Mexico in 2014 increased by 12.2% year-on-year to 26.62 million tonnes compared to 23.72mt used in 2013, Kallanish learns from Mexican steelmaker’s association Canacero.
The imports of steel products grew by 19.5% y-on-y to 12.39mt whilst Mexican crude steel production increased by 4.1% to 18.99mt, or approximately 750,000t more than in 2013.
