Colombian longs output, consumption decline in 2023
Colombia ended 2023 with a drop in long steel production and domestic consumption. Weakening demand and rising imports impacted the industry, which saw performance fall to the lowest level since 2020, Kallanish learns from the local steel producers association Comité Colombiano de Productores de Acero (CCPA).
The country produced 1.46 million tonnes of long steel products last year, 3% less year-on-year and almost 4.4% lower than the 1.53mt in 2021.
