Cleveland-Cliffs ceo weighs in on 232, overcapacity
Former President Donald Trump’s Section 232 tariffs were never meant to be permanent, and they aren’t a long-term fix for the problem of overcapacity, according to Cleveland-Cliffs ceo Lourenco Goncalves.
During the Association for Iron and Steel Technology’s AISTech 2021 conference, Goncalves told press during a question-and-answer session that the 232s were envisioned as a “stop-gap” for domestic steel pricing.
