Chongqing reduces support to state-owned steelmakers
Chongqing's government has classified the state-owned Chongqing Iron and Steel Company (Chonggang) as a company with commercial operations which should compete like a private firm, according to a government notice. The policy marks a move for local governments to reduce support for state-owned steelmakers and encourage them to take on private capital and be self-supporting, Kallanish notes.
