Chinese steel ticks higher as EAFs close early
Chinese steel futures prices ticked upwards again on Wednesday but remained rangebound on uncertain sentiment. Reports that EAFs may shut down early for the holidays could help to support prices if it helps keep down inventories, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the May rebar contract closed at CNY 3,534/tonne ($523/t), CNY 15/t higher than Tuesday, while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 19/t at CNY 3,435/t.
