China’s shipbuilding activity slows further
China’s shipbuilders completed 10.79 million deadweight tonnes of ships over January-April, down -13.5% year-on-year, according to the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (Cansi). They can take some comfort however in that they are securing more orders than their Asian competitors.
The completions imply around 3.73 million tonnes of steel demand so far this year, Kallanish calculates. Order books at Chinese shipbuilders were down -11.2%…
