China's scrap declines despite firm demand
China's scrap market fell last week as the steel market weakened, even though daily consumption at steel mills remained firm.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,779/tonne ($383/t), including VAT. This is CNY 8/t lower from Thursday and down CNY 10/t from a week before.
