China’s iron ore import volumes slide further
China’s iron ore imports were down -12.3% month-on-month and -4.9% year-on-year in October at 75.52 million tonnes, according to the latest customs data. Volumes could be higher this month but imports are still likely to finish the year flat or down, meaning the boost in volume from majors is putting non-Chinese miners under increasing pressure, Kallanish notes.
