China funds industrial revitalisation of north east region
China's central government is putting more effort, and huge sums of money, into the revitalisation of the north east of the country, Kallanish notes.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on 16 August it would launch a three-year programme for revitalising traditional north eastern industrial bases. This follows several field visits by its chairman and other senior officials to Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Jilin since 2015.
