China Railway joins Baobab in South African coal
China Railway International has signed an agreement to jointly invest $90 million with Baobab Mining in a thermal and coking coal project in South Africa. Investments have been driven by firm coking coal prices, Kallanish notes.
The open cast mine project is in Makhado in Limpopo, where there have long been plans for a mining and steelmaking hub. Details of how much the mine could produce or when have not been revealed but it is expected to produce hard cok…
