China NDRC confirms capacity reduction target

China plans to cut 45 million tonnes/year of crude steel capacity in 2016, Xu Shaoshi, director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), told the Summer Davos conference on 26 June. According to China's 13th five year plan, it expects to cut 100-150m t/y capacity by the end of 2020.
