China drives Saudi 7% rod/bar H1 imports increase

Saudi Arabian imports of rebar and wire rod rose 45% on-year in June to 95,162 tonnes, according to General Authority for Statistics data monitored by Kallanish. This was driven mainly by a surge in supply of rod from Egypt and China. China-origin wire rod supply surged 125% in June to 52,937t, while imports from Egypt ballooned over 900% to 11,790t.
