Celsa UK to pay £1.8m fatal accident compensation
The UK arm of Spanish-headquartered long steel supplier Celsa has been ordered by a British court to pay a £1.8 million ($2.2m) fine for the fatal accident that occurred in 2015 at the Cardiff steelmaking site.
During the trial the company pleaded guilty to failing to make a risk assessment at the unit before the blast. It will now need to pay the fine in six months, on top of almost £150,000 in costs.
