Canadian USW pushes for Algoma bid reopening

The Canadian branch of the United Steelworkers labour union at Essar Steel Algoma has signed a letter of intent with an Essar Global subsidiary to hopefully stave off a buy by investment company KPS Capital Partners, Kallanish understands. Essar Steel Algoma, a 4 million short tons/year facility that declared bankruptcy in November, has been targeted for acquisition by KPS.
