Brazil lowers steel imports and exports in 2019
Brazil saw its both imports and exports reduce year-on-year in 2019, Kallanish learns from data issued by local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB).
Steel imports fell by -1.9% to 2,361,000 tonnes last year. Flat steel arrivals totalled 1.292 million tonnes, or -9.8% lower y-o-y, while long steel imports were 505,000t, up by 11.2% y-o-y. The total value of these imports was -5.9% less on-year at $2.457 billion in 2019.
