Brazilian steel production and consumption grew in 2018
Brazilian steel production and apparent steel consumption both increased during 2018, Kallanish learns from data issued by the local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB).
Crude steel output totalled 34.73 million tonnes during the last year. This represented a growth of 1.1% compared to 2017. In December alone, crude steel production, however, fell by -6.3% year-on-year to 2.64mt.
