Brazilian steel imports slip in May
Brazil saw its steel imports fall in May, but January-May intake still remains higher on-year, Kallanish learns from data issued by local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB).
During the January-May period, Brazil’s steel imports were up by 5.3% y-o-y to 1.08 million tonnes. The value of these, however, decreased -1% y-o-y to $1.09 billion. Brazilian domestic steel sales volume was 7.38mt, 4.6% up on-year.
