Turkish scrap leaps further, domestic rebar recovers
Turkish steelmakers have sharply increased their domestic scrap buying prices this week due to skyrocketing imported scrap prices.
Imported scrap prices surged towards the end of last week, following China's announcement of the cancellation of export tax rebates on certain products. Following the first jump last week, prices recorded a second jump in fresh bookings on Tuesday. As a result, premium HMS 1&2 80:20 has leaped around $44/t in one week.
