BMI revises downward global steel price
BMI has revised its 2024 global average steel price forecast downward to $700/tonne from $740/t previously, with Mainland Chinese demand weakness having the potential to place a cap on prices, Kallanish notes.
BMI says in a note that the risks are skewed to the downside as the Chinese economy continues to face a number of risks, with the most significant for the steel industry being its struggling property sector.
