China remains largest scrap user despite reduction: BIR
China’s steel scrap consumption fell 6.7% on-year in January-September 2022 to 170.83 million tonnes, as crude steel output dropped 3.4%. But, with its share of global crude steel output running at 55.6%, China remained the world’s largest steel scrap user, the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) points out.
