Bengang commissions new No.5 blast furnace
Benxi Iron & Steel (Bengang) in north-eastern China's Liaoning province has commissioned its new No.5 blast furnace and put it into production, Kallanish notes.
As a key project along the way to achieving 20 million tonnes/year capacity, Bengang invested CNY 1.24 billion ($189 million) into the BF, which has a 2.435m t/y of iron capacity. The first period of the service life of the BF is expected to be 20 years, Bengang says.
