Baffinland, thyssenkrupp join up for green steel
Canada’s Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation and thyssenkrupp Steel Europe have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly accelerate the development of high-quality feedstock for low-emission steelmaking, Kallanish learns from the German group.
As part of its tkH2Steel project, thyssenkrupp’s coal-based blast furnaces will be replaced by hydrogen-based direct reduction modules, with the use of Baffinland’s Nunavut high-grade iron ore.
