Australian iron miner orders electric locomotive
Australian iron ore miner Roy Hill and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based mobility company Wabtec have inked a purchase agreement for an electric heavy haul locomotive, Kallanish learns from a Roy Hill release.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The FLXdrive battery-electric locomotive will be delivered in 2023. It will have an energy capacity of 7 megawatt-hours and the ability to pull wagons loaded with up to 35,000 tonnes of iron ore.
