Asian steelmakers seen pressuring Russian Far East plant
The prospective steelworks in Russia’s Far East will face competitive pressure from manufacturers in Japan, China and South Korea, the Russian Steel Association tells Kallanish.
The goal of the plant is to provide feedstock for the needs of the Zvezda shipbuilding yard (see Kallanish passim). The head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, announced the decision to build the plant at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 26 November.
