ArcelorMittal Tubarão reduces workforce despite plant restart
ArcelorMittal Brazil says it has signed a collective agreement with worker representatives to carry out a voluntary dismissal program (VDP) at its Tubarão plant. The company makes the announcement just two days after announcing the restart of blast furnace no.3 following a recovery in the steel sector, Kallanish notes.
The VDP is a necessary measure to overcome the economic crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, the steelmaker explains.
