ArcelorMittal to lay off 600 workers in Mexico
Steelmaking giant ArcelorMittal (AM) could lay off nearly 600 workers at its Lazaro Cardenas slab plant in Michoacán state, Mexico. Contacted by Kallanish, the company says “...no official announcement has been made, nor final decision taken on the matter”.
Sources in the industry reveal, however, that the company could lay off 350 contractors, 120 employees and 100 "trusted" employees.
