ArcelorMittal Italia promises zero emissions by 2050
ArcelorMittal Italia will be producing 4.5 million tonnes of crude steel in Taranto this year. This volume is contrary to the figure of 6mt that the company had forecast for 2019, former ceo Matthieu Jehl has told the Italian government during a hearing this week in Rome, monitored by Kallanish. Investments for CO₂ reduction however, are ongoing according to schedule. By 2050 there will be zero emissions from the Taranto site, Jehl said.
