ArcelorMittal extends temporary layoff scheme in Spain
ArcelorMittal tells Kallanish it is extending the temporary employment regulation scheme (ERTE) for its workforce at all production units and commercial centres in Spain for 12 months.
The company is applying a lay-off scheme after the fire that occurred at blast furnace A of the Gijón plant last March. The extension comes also as a result of a contraction in ArcelorMittal’s order book, slowing demand and worsening market prospects, Kallanish notes. …
