ArcelorMittal extends temporary layoff scheme in Spain
Spanish trade unions have agreed with ArcelorMittal to extend the temporary employment regulation scheme (ERTE) for the steelmaker’s workforce at all production units and commercial centres for three months.
The company is applying a lay-off scheme after the fire that occurred in blast furnace A of the Gijón plant in March. The extension comes also as a result of a slowdown in ArcelorMittal’s order book, Kallanish notes.
