ArcelorMittal Belgium awarded EC funds to decarbonise
ArcelorMittal’s facility in Ghent, Belgium, has been awarded €280 million ($308m) from the European Commission to decarbonise its steelmaking process through hydrogen use. The project includes the construction of a direct reduction iron (DRI) plant and a new electric arc furnace (EAF) which will replace one of the two blast furnaces currently in operation, Kallanish notes.
