ArcelorMittal begins XCarb heavy plate production in Spain
ArcelorMittal tells Kallanish it has started producing low-carbon-emission steel plate of up to 18 tonnes at its Spanish heavy plate mill in Asturias.
The steelmaker says it is the first producer in Europe with the ability to manufacture such products in these dimensions. 18-tonne heavy plate is used in major infrastructure projects, such as in the welded section and box girders for road and rail bridges.
