Anyang city halts steel production but exempts Angang
China’s Anyang city in Henan launched its heavy air pollution reaction plan as from midnight on 3 December (see Kallanish 05 December). It has now decided that local steelmakers should halt production 100% apart from Anyang Iron & Steel and its three subsidiaries, according to a notice on the local government website. The tightening restrictions will add more pressure on both steel supply and prices, especially for long products.
