AK slashes 2016 losses, spot market exposure
US steelmaker AK Steel trimmed its 2016 losses significantly on year as it pared away its exposure to spot markets but still exited the year in the red, Kallanish reports.
AK posted a 2016 loss of $7.8 million on sales of $5.88 billion. In 2015, the company lost $509m on sales of $6.69 billion.
Total 2016 shipments were about 6m short tons, down about -41% from 2015 as a result of a “… decline in shipments to the distributor and converters market…
