AK joins general US sheet base price hike
AK Steel is the latest domestic steelmaker to lend its weight to the new-year push for higher sheet base prices, Kallanish understands from a company announcement.
AK’s increase of $40/short ton is effective immediately for all new carbon flat-rolled product orders.
It echoes earlier increases made by Nucor, US Steel, NLMK and others.
Prior to the increases, Kallanish put hot-rolled coil at $650-670/st and cold-rolled at $830-860/st.
