US steel import tonnage decreases on-year
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports that steel imports in September totaled 2.18 million net tons, a decrease of 9.8% year-on-year, Kallanish understands. AISI says total imports in the month decreased by 4.1% from August.
Of the September total, finished steel goods accounted for 1.57m net tons. This is a decrease of 15.1% on-year and a 15.1% decrease from August.
