US steel imports fall 9% in 2023
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports the US imported 28.16 million tonnes of steel in 2023, a decrease of 8.7% on-year, Kallanish learns from AISI’s analysis of census bureau data.
Finished steel accounted for 21.69mt of imports, a 14.1% decrease versus 2022, and the finished steel import market share for the year was 21%.
