Ahmsa gets go-ahead to build cogeneration plant
Mexican steelmaker Ahmsa’s mining subsidiary, Minera del Norte (Mimosa) has obtained a 40-year authorisation to develop a cogeneration plant at its coal mine located in Coahuila, North Eastern Mexico, Kallanish learns.
The new power plant will be fed with the methane gas produced by the site. It is expected to supply 19.2 megawatts of electricity to the mining operation, as well as Ahmsa’s nearby steel plant, local media reports suggest.
