Ahmsa files US chapter 15 bankruptcy petition
Mexican integrated steelmaker Ahmsa has filed for US bankruptcy protection, Kallanish learns from a company release.
Ahmsa’s chapter 15 petition streamlines the company’s restructuring plan, which was approved by its creditors 18 April. A subsequent lifting order of the company’s stay of proceedings was issued by a Mexican court 16 May.
In US bankruptcy law, a chapter 15 petition allows a foreign actor to access the US court system.
