Acciai Speciali Terni plans five-week stoppage
Italian stainless steelmaker Acciai Speciali Terni (AST) has applied for temporary layoffs to carry out a longer production stoppage in August due to weak trading volumes, unions and sources close to the company tell Kallanish.
The temporary layoffs will include over 2,200 workers from 19 July until 23 August, when the melt shop will be idled. The company has told unions it is continuing to face a very challenging market with a sharp drop in orders and coils price…
