Usiminas set to idle two blast furnaces
Brazil’s largest flat steelmaker Usiminas will switch off two of its blast furnaces in order to reduce its pig iron production by 120,000 tonnes/month, Kallanish learns from the company.
The Cubatao plant and the Ipatinga plant, located in Sao Paulo state and Minais Gerais state, are expected to shut down temporarily two of their furnaces from May 31 and June 4 2015 respectively.
