Unions meet to keep Port Kembla open
A meeting of over 500 steelworkers held by the Australian Workers Union (AWU) in Port Kembla is hoping to find way to keep the last Australian integrated steelworks open, Kallanish learns. BlueScope’s Port Kembla steelworks will have to lose 500 jobs and cut costs by AUD 200 million ($140.5m) or face closure, the company says.
