US Steel, ArcelorMittal agree to extend USW contract during negotiations
Both US Steel and ArcelorMittal USA have accepted the United Steelworkers’ offer to work under the terms of its expired contracts while negotiations continue, the labour union confirmed Tuesday to Kallanish.
The contracts between the steelmakers and the United Steelworkers expired 1 September. The USW is concurrently involved in a lockout with Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI), though negotiations are slated to resume 11 September.
