Struggling Hebei set to cut just 5 million tonnes of capacity in 2015
The northern Chinese province of Hebei is continuing with its attempts to reduce capacity in polluting sectors. Many will be disappointed however that its target for steelmaking capacity closures this year is just one third of the capacity it eliminated in 2014. The less aggressive targets may or may not be connected to the economic impact on the province last year, which was confirmed in a government work report published Friday, Kallanish notes.
