South Korean steel production declines in February
South Korean crude steel production fell 4.4% year-on-year in February to 5.09 million tonnes, according to the Korea Iron and Steel Association (Kosa). Output was at its lowest level in 18 months and will be welcome news to Korea’s steelmaking neighbours, which will be competing for export customers to overcome their own domestic problems, Kallanish notes.
